CINCH WEAVING WORKSHOP IN THERMOPOLIS
Pop Wagner, Minneapolis, Minn., will present a horse cinch making workshop, Monday, April 6, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., in Hot Springs County Library.
Wagner, who is often called a “true American treasure” and an “all-around showman,” is a regular at Cody’s annual “Cowboy Songs & Range Ballads” music festival. He frequently appeared on National Public Radio’s “Prairie Home Companion” show during its early years.
Participants will weave a mohair horse cinch on looms Wagner built. The process is a hand-weaving technique and does not require any prior weaving experience.
The workshop is sponsored by Hot Springs Greater Learning Foundation, in conjunction with the Wyoming Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts.
Cost of the workshop is $40 and includes mohair and materials for the cinch as well as instructions on how to build the loom. Participation is limited, so that Wagner can provide hands-on help.
To enroll in the workshop, call 307-864-3391.
