Billings, Mont., band “Spur of The Moment” will perform in Thermopolis High School Auditorium, Sat., April 18, at 6:30 p.m.
The band plays an eclectic mix -- traditional country, folk, bluegrass, Irish and gospel, with a little original music and rock and roll thrown in.
They are sponsored by Hot Springs Greater Learning Foundation in conjunction with the Wyoming Arts Council.
“It’s hard to put a label on their style,” said Ed Capen, who is helping bring the group to Thermopolis. “They can play almost anything – and do. They’re just as likely to play Jimmy Rodgers and Hank Snow as Johnny Cash or Earl Scruggs. The guys often switch from one instrument to another, and they have great five-part harmony -- they switch back and forth from singing lead to harmony. It makes for a great mix.”
Members of the band are Wayne Long, banjo and dobro; Tim Meurer, lead guitar; Ed Finley, mandolin and guitar; Rick Evans, guitar and bass; Rick Metz, guitar and bass; Tony Neumann, harmonica; and Gy Moody, percussionist.
“Spur of the Moment” has performed at bluegrass festivals in Red Lodge, Miles City and Lewistown. They currently perform at Prairie Winds Café, Molt, Mont., and at The Den and Yellowstone Valley Brewing Co. in Billings.
Tickets are available at the door, $8 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. For more information: 921-8120.
