“FOR THE BIRDS” DRAWS ENTRIES FROM
YOUNG, SENIORS

Nearly 20 birdhouses and bird-related items have been entered in the “For the Birds” community arts contest. They include entries from children, Big Horn Enterprises, adults and corporations. The deadline has been extended until Sept. 28th, according to Toddi Darlington, secretary-treasurer, Hot Springs Greater Learning Foundation, which sponsors the project. “Last year, when we had the chair contest, we had several people who showed up at the last minute,” Toddi Darlington said. “Just let us know; we’re flexible.”

Entries can be seen in downtown storefronts and windows, with bidding beginning Sept. 7. A handout will be available with pictures of entries and their locations. The birdhouses will be sold in a silent and radio auction that will end Sept. 30th. Winners will be announced in early October.

Storyteller bookstore has helped coordinate the event. The community arts program is sponsored by Hot Springs Greater Learning Foundation in conjunction with the Wyoming Arts Council. Funds from the birdhouse auction go to support community events and programs throughout the year.
